"Roadrunner," a self-driving car manufactured
by Delphi Automotive, has just completed a journey of nearly 3,400-mile across the
United States.
The Roadrunner, an Audi SQ5, spent nearly
99% of the nine-day trip in
fully automated mode. Adorned sensors and
other Delphi self-driving systems it navigates through difficult conditions such as traffic circles, construction, bridges,
bad weather and aggressive drivers.
The road trip crossed 15 states along the way, he started in San Francisco and ended in New York. Delphi engineers
gathered nearly three terabytes of car data,
information they plan to use in
the promotion of automated driving technologies.
