iPhone 13 announcement
Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 13, the company's next-generation smartphone. And while newer versions of the iPhone today generally offer incremental improvements, the iPhone 13 is indeed a compelling improvement. The iPhone 13's list of capabilities is huge and includes a much more efficient digital camera and particularly incredible battery lifestyles.
Still, it turned into a hectic occasion for Apple and the company, as it often does, didn't have time to expose every unmarried element of the iPhone 13 that was truly worth it. 'to be shared. And for good reason, now every element of the iPhone 13 is no longer something to which Apple always wants to draw attention. With that said, below are six things you might know about the iPhone 13 that you might need to be aware of before you buy it.
iPhone 13 notch is higher and the battery percentage indicator does not come back
The new notch is rumored to be 26.8mm wide and 5.35mm high. This compares to the iPhone 12's notch which is 34.83mm wide and 5.3mm high. Apple noted that the iPhone 13's notch is smaller than that of the iPhone 12. That's right, but Apple didn't mention that the iPhone 13's notch is slightly higher. Still, the battery life on the iPhone 13 is dramatically improved, it would be nice if the battery percentage indicator comes back with iOS 15. Alas, it certainly isn't.
GPU of iPhone 13 Pro is more powerful than GPU of ordinary iPhone 13
According to Geekbench, the performance of the iPhone 13 pro GPU is almost 55% higher than that of the iPhone 12 pro GPU. The A15 Bionic chip of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the GPU has an additional core for a total of five cores offering performance up to 50% better than the competition. However, the A15 Bionic chip inside the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 has 4 cores, and Apple claims that it gives you an overall performance that is 30 pixels better than the “competition”.
To shoot ProRes video, 256 GB iPhone is required
The iPhone 13 Pro models will allow users to shoot in ProRes, an advanced video codec widely used as the final broadcast format for commercials. This powerful new professional workflow is made possible by the new camera hardware, advanced video encoders and decoders in A15 Bionic, and flash storage pipeline. This process consumes a lot of storage, luckily Apple has introduced a 1TB storage option, which will remedy this problem. So if you plan to shoot ProRes in 4k, you will need an iPhone 13 pros with 256Gb of storage, otherwise, ProRes videos are 1080p at 30fps. It is important to note that ProRes will not be available with the launch, it will be unlocked with future iOS 15 updates.
