Samsung Electronics has officially announced the launch of the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. This generation marks a strategic shift toward "Background AI," where Galaxy AI features operate seamlessly behind the scenes to simplify daily tasks, alongside a massive leap in hardware security and display privacy.
Pre-orders for the devices begin on February 25, 2026.
1. Performance: The
Snapdragon 8 Elite Powerhouse
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Elite (Gen 5),
specifically optimized for Galaxy devices. This chip delivers significant gains
across the board:
·
CPU: 19% improvement for faster processing.
·
GPU: 24% boost for ultra-smooth gaming and high-end
graphics.
·
NPU: 39% increase to ensure Galaxy AI features run
continuously and without lag.
·
Thermal Management: A redesigned vapor cooling chamber
features a new heat-absorption interface on the sides of the processor for more
efficient distribution during multitasking or 4K recording.
Note on S26/S26+: Depending on the market, these
models may feature either the Snapdragon 8 Elite or the new Exynos 2600.
2. Industry-First
"Privacy Display"
The S26 Ultra introduces a
breakthrough in mobile security with Pixel-Level Privacy.
·
Privacy Display: Unlike
traditional screen filters that degrade image quality, this integrated
technology controls light diffusion.
·
Automatic Protection: It
can be set to activate automatically when entering a PIN, password, or opening
banking apps, narrowing the viewing angle so only the user can see the content.
·
Modes: Includes Partial Screen Privacy for
notifications and Maximum
Privacy Protection for high-level side-view concealment.
3. Camera & Video:
Professional Workflows
Samsung has unified the
camera system with Galaxy AI into a single "operating platform."
Advanced Editing Tools:
·
ProScaler: Uses AI to
sharpen text and fine details in photos and videos.
·
Creative Studio: A unified
workspace where users can turn simple sketches or photos into ready-to-share
posters or invitations using generative AI.
·
Photo Assistant: Describe
changes in natural language (e.g., "change this outfit" or
"restore the missing slice of this cake").
4. Proactive Intelligence:
Now Nudge & Now Brief
Samsung is moving from
reactive to proactive AI.
·
Now Nudge: Suggests actions
based on context, such as finding trip photos to send to a friend or checking
for calendar conflicts when you receive a meeting invite.
·
Now Brief: Provides timely
reminders for travel bookings and important events based on user preferences.
·
AI Agents: In addition to
an upgraded Bixby, the series integrates Google Gemini and Perplexity. Users can ask Gemini to "book a
taxi," and the AI will handle the app interactions until the final
confirmation button.
5. Security:
Quantum-Resistant & Long-Term Support
Samsung is doubling down on
future-proofing its security with Samsung Knox.
·
PQC (Post-Quantum
Cryptography): Extended to core OS processes and firmware protection to
defend against future quantum computing threats.
·
Private Album: A new
feature in the Gallery app to hide sensitive media without needing a separate
Secure Folder login.
·
Commitment: The Galaxy S26
series will receive seven
years of security updates.
