What is Windows Server Backup?
Windows Server Backup, or WSB, is a feature that allows users to generate backups and retrieve data in Windows Server installations.
Backups of Windows Servers are an important aspect of regular Windows Server operations. These backups assist you in recovering your data in the event of a disaster such as ransomware, file deletion, or device failure. Data corruption is a relatively typical occurrence that many people face on a daily basis.
Microsoft included Windows Server Backup, a function that can be installed in your Windows Server and helps you protect your data, to address this issue.
If an administrator wishes to conduct the following tasks, they can do it with the help of Windows Server Backup:
- A entire server should be backed up.
- Make a backup of the current state of the system.
- Make backups of files, folders, or volumes that you choose (less than 2 terabytes).
- Backups at the block level (incremental backups).
- Reinstall Windows on new hardware.
- Disk space is used automatically.
- Options for recovery (user-friendly).
- And there's more.
Check the status of your backup
How can you tell if your backup worked or not? To double-check this, do the following:
- Check the Application event log in Event Viewer on your Windows Server Backup. There will be a log of your backup completion status.
- The status of your most recent backup will also be displayed on the server where Windows Server Backup was run. 'Successful' should be written instead.
