Lack of chips affects iPhone 13 manufacturing
Apple is suffering from a crisis
in the manufacture of pre-reserved copies of the iPhone 13 due to the
exacerbation of the shortage of chips needed for manufacturing.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said component shortages had a bigger impact than the company had previously predicted, with iPhone 13 supply restrictions adding to those affecting the iPad and the Mac.
According to a report from
"Nine to Five Mac", the company is not expected to reach its rate of
manufacturing the currently required number of iPhone 13s until February of
next year, that is February 2022.
It is known that the chip crisis
has affected all sectors of technical manufacturing and has directly affected
demand in the automotive sector, as most auto factories in turn suffer from a
lack of supply.
The iPad is paying dearly for the chip shortage
And the chip shortage crisis has
forced Apple to consider cutting production of "iPad" devices, a
tough move the company has repeatedly postponed.
The company had previously been
forced to downgrade the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch 7.
According to a report released by
Nikkei Asia, Apple is looking to cut iPad production in general so it can
customize the components that help it charge the specified amount of new
iPhones. The company is looking to increase shipments of the iPhone, which is
in greater demand than the Apple tablet.
The same report states that iPad
production has declined by nearly 50%, and Apple, to adapt to the situation,
has reduced production of older iPhone models to prioritize the most demanded
range which is the iPhone 13.
